Frequently Asked Questions - FAQ

FAQ

What do you mean by "Retirement Community?"

A. Retirement community is a broad term that includes all types of communities such as resort-style, assisted living, over 55, manufactured home, continuing care, active adult, age qualified, etc. These communities have in common that they are focused on providing activities and amenities that seniors want or need.

See our page on "Definitions of Retirement Communities"

Does this site include all types?

A. We list all types of age-qualified communities for adults over age 55. Our Active Adult category will list select states that have communities geared to senior or retirement living but are not age qualified.

FAQ: How do we know a community is "age-qualified?"

They must meet certain government regulations to call themselves an "over 55" or "over 62" community. They also must mention that and post it. Please always check what type of community it is with the management. Some communities may start at age 50.

Why do you call yourself the "best guide?"

A. Too many websites mix communities and are not strictly over 55. Our site uses a list format. It is simple and you will not find anything but what you are here to look for--an "over 55" active adult community (well we might have one or two of the other types but that is all). We don't want you to waste your time and just be frustrated. If you do not want an age restricted community, we do have an Active Adult category.

FAQ: Are your community listings paid advertisements?

A. Absolutely not. We want the freedom to list as many communities as possible. We are not paid to list a community or paid for our on-site reviews.

Are you selective in your list?

A. Yes to a certain extent. We are active adult communities for adults "over age 55." If we are not sure if they are appropriate, we do not list them until we have a chance to get more information. We know we do not have all communities listed, but as we find them, we will list them and if it is new we mark it "new."

Why do you think retirement communities are a good choice.

A. Seniors need more quiet, privacy, security, low or no home maintenance, services, activities at hand, health care, exercise options, scenic beauty, healthy food, and rules that benefit seniors. It is an additional peace of mind to know that the community is designed for senior's needs. Good retirement communities are designed for seniors and their specific needs. Also, the social opportunities are abundant.

FAQ: Do you guarantee the information on your site is accurate?

A. Absolutely not. You must always do your own checking as regards any information seen here or referred to including prices. Information can change. We also are not responsible for information on any site that we refer you to.

Will you have any additional features added in the future.

A. We currently do have many extra features which can be found listed on the Site Map but listing over-55 communities in all states is our main purpose.

FAQ: Why do you include inspirational quotes on a site about retirement communities?

A. Because it is fun, everyone likes quotes, and we feel persons seeking our information are at a stage of life that is a bit more reflective and thoughtful. Quotes usually make you stop and think about something.

All things are connected and serious decisions are involved in choosing where to live, what community, or whether to live in a retirement community. Those types of decisions sometimes evolve from something we read, saw or heard and then reflected on.
