Heritage Shores

Heritage Shores, a premier active adult retirement community, is located in Bridgeville, Delaware. Delaware has been called the state that has the most tax advantages, and that is certainly a good thing for retirees. There are two over 55 communities there. (Please see note below)

(Please note: The Lennar Community at Heritage Shores has been purchased by Brookfield Homes and we do not know what changes may occur to the community since this article was written so please check with the builder on all information to verify its accuracy. We have eliminated substantial parts of this article to update. We also do not know all the details behind their press release so please personally verify its accuracy and further details.)

Read our review of Providence of Brookfield Homes. Providence by Brookfield Homes.

Amongst the cornfields, across the street, you will see an entrance of two fountains showing that you have arrived. It is a broad expanse with freshly planted trees, which will feature 1800 homes on 800 acres. Heritage Shores

The area is not nearly fully developed yet but with its location only 30 miles to Rehoboth, the ocean beaches and outlets, and the tax advantages of Delaware, which include no sales tax and lower property taxes, it does hold promise to be an exciting place to retire now and in the future.

It is filled with outstanding amenities such as a beautiful and large clubhouse, 18-hole championship golf course, tennis courts and indoor and outdoor pools, fitness center and restaurants. It feels like everything you need is here.

There is plenty of room for walking and bicycling. There are single family detached homes and attached villas for easy retirement living. All the latest design trends seem to be represented.(See photos below.) Please verify all information for accuracy. The community has won some prestigious awards.

The homes seem to be a good value, too, with large square footages. (Please check with your local Realtors for market analysis.) The Homeowner's fee includes everything except for a golf membership which is extra. (See note above)

The community is about 2 1/2 years old I was told and plans on building for 5 to 8 years overall. They will take care of lawns and shovel snow. (please confirm.) Everything is open now, including the Passwaters Restaurant and the 1730 Tavern.

Some of the features: ceramic floors, grab bars in tub/shower, brushed nickel plumbing fixtures,50 gallon hot water heaters, 9 foot first floor ceilings, ceiling fans where applicable, gas fireplaces, chair and crown moldings, hardwood flooring, and upgraded carpet where applicable. (Please confirm as this information can change.)
