Jensen's Communities at Myrtle Beach: Ocean Pines/Magnolia Grove Residential Communities.

These are resale manufactured home communities side by side in the same location on the Southern end of The Grand Strand.

senior mobile home community Driving into one of the Jensen communities at Myrtle Beach called Ocean Pines, and it's companion community next door, Magnolia Grove, manufactured land-lease communities for over age 55, was a pleasant surprise.

We were visiting Myrtle Beach to discover retirement communities there and just happened upon Ocean Pines and Magnolia Grove. See our article about our trip to Myrtle Beach to find retirement communities.

In addition, there is a senior apartment community there that we were not aware of and didn't see by Jensen called Garden City Beach Duplex Apartments.

These are all very well spread out to give a feeling of open spaciousness in an area of busy activity--Myrtle Beach.

The location on the southern end of The Grand Strand (same as Myrtle Beach), seemed to be one of the nicest residential parts of Myrtle Beach--not as congested as closer to the beach. It's hard to comprehend the Grand Strand unless you see it. Sixty miles of shopping, hotels, activities and restaurants right on the beach. And if you love miniature golf, I never saw so many courses. This was a miniature golfer's paradise. This community is a few miles from it all.

Also nearby are the beautiful Brookgreen Gardens.

Myrtle Beach is a beehive of activity with new home construction going on everywhere in addition to the miles of solid shopping, restaurants and entertainment--almost overshadowing the reason people came there in the beginning--the beach.

However, once inside the Jensen communities, there was:

  • a quiet campground feeling
  • lots of trees
  • serenity and spaciousness
  • a mix of new and older homes, well maintained
  • a lake
  • a sparkling pool and small clubhouse

..it was like an oasis compared to the trafficked streets outside and highway 17. The gently curving streets, crystal lakes, and very tall, mature pines instantly gave me a feeling of relaxation. This is the feeling many seek in retirement.

If you love Myrtle Beach you may want to review this older community with a mix of old and new manufactured homes for over 55. Enjoy the peace at home and just outside is all the exciting activity you could want for a beach town.

The manufactured homes varied from older models to very new deluxe ones. All of them were well-kept and neat. We saw a clubhouse there and sparkling pool. It was a hot June day and the pool would have been convenient for a quick dip. Just minutes away, however, are the Atlantic Ocean beaches.

For inquiries about Jensen communities at Myrtle Beach, there is a sales office located on the property for new homes or resales. If you want to be sure someone is there, call first. We could not find anyone in the office when we visited.

This is a land-lease community, meaning you purchase the home only and lease your land. The land lease is included in a monthly homeowner's fee which covers various services and amenities. Low maintenance items include tree and shrub pruning.

The prices are very reasonable, starting under $100,000. We saw some homes that were in the low $100's as well. Myrtle Beach prices can reach into the millions for a condominium on the beach. You are located very close to the beach here for those long beach walks, warm breezes, and warm surf and that is what Myrtle Beach is really all about no matter how much shopping they build here.

If you want shopping, restaurants, activities, it is all there on highway 17, just out your door, but inside this community it seemed peaceful typical of most senior communities.

The Atlantic ocean is just minutes away and the Intracoastal Waterway is about a mile. If you are looking for a pleasant and reasonably priced community with all the outstanding features of Myrtle Beach, then view Ocean Pines by Jensen Communities.

So if its independence you desire, with your own home, but low cost living, this lovely Jensen community may be what you are looking for.
