How Our Retirement Communities Information Can Help You Answer Questions

How To Get Retirement Communities Information

Retirement communities information is a confused and jumbled heap
and no formal directory has been published that I am aware of. There are probably about 1200 retirement communities throughout the U.S.

Our simple list of "over-55" active adult communities only should save you time in searching. The internet is the best place to get information but it can be time consuming if you cannot get the specific information you want readily. Our lists that took hours of research can save you time by having these communities all in one place instead of trying to find over-55 communities on several websites.

How To Search

No one knows exactly what over-55 persons are looking for because information is searched for using very general terms by area, by states or cities or by a few general amenities such as golf, luxury or resort-style and sometimes ocean-front or mountain.

Traditional Searching vs. Today's Boomers Wants

Most retirees stay in their homes and communities report that approximately 80% of their residents come from the nearby cities and towns. This is not to say that staying in your home is the best thing. Studies are being performed to determine which is better for seniors for a longer and more healthy life. Being in a community of like-minded people can be more stimulating culturally. After all, being in a neighborhood where most residents have young families and the parents are gone all day at work, can be lonely for seniors.

Destination communities seem to be most popular in Florida, Arizona, and California due to their warm climates. They are located, however, throughout the U.S.

The category that is increasing in popularity other than searching by area is luxury retirement communities. Boomers want more options in everything from food to activities and especially look for options that allow them to stay fit and healthy. The newer luxury communities definitely have these features but is not exclusive to them. A good retirement community should also provide these options even if on a smaller scale.
