Retirement Communities-Bay Area California
..retirement paradise ..
Retirement communities-Bay Area includes the cities of Sunnyvale, Mountain View, Cupertino, San Jose, Saratoga, Palo Alto, Los Altos, Fremont..When I moved to Sunnyvale in the Bay Area of Northern California in 1970, there were fruit orchards everywhere--the Bay Area grew fast and changed. Now all the people who went there at the time I did (at the first beginnings of Silicon Valley and not called that yet) are in their 60's and are looking at retirement communities located there. I was surprised at how many communities there are today--now there is a need. The Bay area is a beautiful place to retire whether you are new to the area and finally achieving the dream of going to California or have lived there all your life--the climate is wonderful in "the Valley" for retirement so people just don't want to move. There is so much to do you will never be bored.
Senior Retirement Living for Changing Needs
You may wish to downsize or you may need assisted living--or there are adult children looking for theirparents in assisted living or senior apartments (check those pages also). Another scenario I have come across are older parents moving to where their children live and work and they aren't sure they can afford the area. Always keep your open mind. If there isn't anything in your price range in retirement communities, check out the senior apartments or assisted living. Check out areas close to but a little further away from Silicon Valley like Fremont, areas of San Jose or Santa Cruz County. There are now some beautiful retirement communities there, so why not downsize to where you can have a more relaxed enjoyment of living with less time spent on maintaining a yard and home. So here is my take on what is available in the Bay Area--Santa Clara County in the best places. |
A bit of history..Today the cherry orchards are all gone with one exception:Charlie Olson's farm...Charlie Olson held out as long as he could not selling his land as Silicon Valley sprouted up all around him..Part of his cherry orchards was always dedicated to a farm stand and he wanted to keep that tradition...He managed to keep a couple acres and today it is a poetic reminder of what once was...Today you can still buy the sweet Bings CJOlson Cherries
