In 1894 Major Nathan Boynton settled the land. In 1895 construction of Boynton Beach Hotel began but later torn down.
Boynton Beach Library System dates back to 1895 when pioneer Charles Pierce loaned books from his personal collection. The course was taken up by Boynton's Womans Club in 1911. Today there are 120,000 volumes and full services including free internet and programs and activities.
